(The original ipod shuffle is the white long/rectangular stick)
It must obviously fit in as it is usb??
But does it actually work? if so do the song titles come up on the head unit display?
Do you control the song selection via the ipod or head unit?

Yes there is a solution for you. I have a shuffle and have added a unit from Apple theremselves . It is made for my headunit usb port. Check out this source page for your specific headunit manufacturer.
